The Effects of Ultraviolet Radiation on Spores of the Fungus Aspergillus Niger
نویسندگان
چکیده
The survival ratio of Aspergillus spores exposed to ultraviolet radiation has been measured as a function of total incident energy for wave lengths of 2537 A, 3022 A, 3129 A, and 3650 A. The effect of humidity on killing of Aspergillus spores by ultraviolet radiation has been found to be negligible. A delay in germination as a result of irradiation has been found. The Bunsen-Roscoe reciprocity law has been found to hold within the limits of the radiation intensities studied. Certain morphological changes have been observed.

Electron Bombardment of Biological Materials
A study has been undertaken of the rate of inactivation of spores of the ascomycete fungus Aspergillus niger when bombarded in vacuum, with homogeneous beams of cathode rays of energies from 4 to 15 electron kv. and current densities of 1 x 10(-7) to 3 x 10(-6) amperes per square cm. These velocities and densities are in the range of those of showers of secondary electrons produced in biologica...
متن کاملRapid Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles by a Marine-derived Fungus Aspergillus Niger and their Antimicrobial Potentials
Recently, biosynthesis of nanoparticles has received attention due to an increasing need of developing rapid, simple and ecofriendly protocol. Pathogenicity of some of the organisms and lengthy reaction are the drawbacks involved with biosynthesis. We describe a simple protocol for rapid synthesis of silver nanoparticles through biological route using a marine-derived fungus Aspergillus niger. ...
متن کاملDensity Fluctuations of Two Major Aspergillus Species Airborne Spores in Pistachio Growing Regions of Iran
Contamination of pistachio nuts by aflatoxigenic strains of Aspergillus species is the greatest constraint to production and export of pistachio nuts in Iran, the leading producer of pistachio nuts in the world. Kerman province is the main region in Iran where 85%, of pistachio nuts are produced. Determining the population density of Aspergillus spores in the orchards and terminals which are th...
متن کاملDecolorization of Distillery Wastewater by UV irradiated spores of Aspergillus fumigatus
An efficient microbial technique for decolorizing distillery wastewater was achieved using irradiated spores of Aspergillus fumigatus. The fungus was isolated from soil samples taken from the local distillery processing unit. By using the irradiated spores, wastewater decolorization increased by 14.3% as compared to that of the control treatment (68.8% vs. 54.5%). In the presence of sodium nitr...
متن کاملEffects of Junlon and Hostacerin on the Electrokinetic Properties of Spores of Aspergillus niger
The electrophoretic behaviour of freshly harvested spores of Aspergillus niger, Phanerochaete chrysosporium and Geotrichum candidum was determined in solution at various pH values. Freshly harvested spores of all three species lacked positive mobility at low pH values, suggesting a preponderance of acidic surface groups. Spores of the ‘non-aggregating’ fungus, G. candidum, had a pH-mobility cur...
